Creating a Sensei LMS course marketplace with community forums

I am launching a marketplace where multiple instructors publish Sensei LMS courses, students buy them, and lesson completion feeds a shared activity stream so the community feels alive rather than static. Sensei by default is quite bare visually, and it does not natively play with BuddyPress or BuddyBoss groups. I need a theme where the Sensei course pages get proper cover images and aggregate ratings, and where instructors can assign courses to community groups without me writing a bridge plugin from scratch before I can launch.

Reign with the reign-sensei-addon is built for exactly this scenario. Specifics:

  • Course review and aggregate rating system for Sensei, with star ratings visible on course listings and single pages
  • Cover image upload and display for courses, so the Sensei course catalog stops looking like a bullet list
  • BuddyPress / BuddyBoss group integration with course assignment — groups can be tied to courses and managed from a tab inside the group
  • Activity creation for lesson completion, so each lesson finished posts into the activity stream
  • Chunked user data processing for large datasets, useful once your student count gets into the thousands
  • Group creation and a Manage Course tab UI with checkbox rendering for Manage Tabs section

Honest limits: the addon is a styling and community bridge. Sensei licensing, payment gateways, and course authoring UI stay inside Sensei itself. If you later evaluate other LMS engines, Reign also has dedicated addons for LearnDash, LifterLMS, and TutorLMS, so a migration does not force a theme change.
