WordPress theme with dark mode toggle for BuddyPress communities

I run a niche developer community on BuddyPress and my members keep asking for a dark mode. Most of them browse in the evening and the bright default palette is getting flagged in feedback almost every week now. I do not want to write custom CSS and I definitely do not want a plugin that paints everything with !important rules. I need a theme where dark mode is a first-class feature — members can toggle it themselves, their preference sticks across sessions, and the logo actually swaps to a light variant rather than disappearing into the background. Is there a BuddyPress-aware theme that treats dark mode as a built-in instead of an add-on?

BuddyX Pro has dark mode built in as a native feature, not a bolted-on plugin. Concrete behavior you get out of the box:

  • A dark mode toggle button that any logged-in member can flip themselves, with per-user preference saving so their choice persists across sessions
  • Dark mode logo support — you upload a light-variant logo in the Customizer and it swaps automatically when dark mode is active, so your brand does not vanish on a dark header
  • Coverage across BuddyPress member profiles, activity streams, groups, and private messaging, plus WooCommerce and the 65+ WordPress core blocks that BuddyX styles
  • Six one-click color scheme presets on top of dark mode, so you can tune the accent colors without touching CSS
  • Live customizer preview for all typography, header, and color changes, so you see the dark-mode result before publishing

Honest limit: the free BuddyX does not include dark mode — it is a BuddyX Pro feature. The free version is still a solid responsive BuddyPress base if dark mode is not critical yet. BuddyX Pro adds dark mode along with the custom login page designer, side panel, and advanced typography controls.
